Mahawu Volcano

Volcano Trekking Tour

Duration: approximately 6 hours. Departure: suggested 8:30 AM.

This is soft adventure at its best! From Tasik Ria Resort, we go straight through Tomohon. Arriving at the base of Mount Mahawu, we begin the one-hour trek to the crater’s edge. From that vantage point we can see Bunaken & Manado Tua Islands, as well as the Bay of Manado. At the bottom of the crater, you can see a steaming lake and experience, if that’s the right word, the smell of sulphur from the pools. After this magnificent hike we stop for lunch at a shore-side restaurant on Lake Tondano, 600m above sea level.

Minahasa Highland Tour

Duration: approximately 7 hours.

We depart Tasik Ria Resort heading for the small village of Woloan where you can see the Minahasan traditional houses being built, ‘knock down style’, ready for delivery or shipping. Then it’s off to see the traditional food and flower market in Tomohon – with a few ‘cool’ surprises in store for you! Lunch is taken on the serene Lake Tondano, close to the goldfish farm before we travel to Pulutan Village where pottery is their cottage industry. On our return journey to Manado, the WWII Japanese Caves are a must to explore. These are a cavernous hillside area along the road between Kiawa and Kawangkoan and were used as storage for supplies.

Last stop is Lake Linow (the changing color lake); a beautiful but strange lake, which can change its color from red to green to blue.

Tangkoko Nature Reserve Tour

Duration: approximately 10 hours. Departure 12:30 PM.

From Tasik Ria Resort, we drive for about 2.5 hours to the 9000 hectare National Park on the slopes of Mount ‘Dua Saudara’. Here we hike in search of the Black Crested Macaque, Black Monkey indigenous to North Sulawesi, as well as the Tarsier Monkey, at about 10 cm short, this is the world’s smallest primate! This is an exciting trip for nature lovers, trekkers and anyone who likes the outdoors. Cameras, long pants and a flashlight are the order of the day.

White Water Rafting

This is an optional adventure tour with a local operator, organised by Tasik Ria Resort. Thrills and fun are guaranteed as you race down through rainforests, experiencing a serious adrenaline-rush and maybe even taking in some wildlife along the way.

Please reserve one day in advance.
